Academic Service
Our lab frequently hosts lighting design training programs and workshops. We also provide testing and consulting services
LRIC has hosted lighting design training programmes for building professionals (interior designers, architects, lighting designers and engineers etc.) at three levels – Fundamental, Intermediate and Advanced Levels. We’ve also collaborated with The Illuminating Engineering Association of Thailand (TIEA) to provide specific lighting design lectures such as Urban Lighting and Light and Health. Every 2-4 years we also organised international lighting design workshops with practical mock-ups in real settings such as a UNESCO historic park and temples. In 2020, we’ve been invited to participate in two large architectural/lighting exhibitions (ASA and Thailand Lighting Fair) to showcase our lighting design research and innovation. In February, we organised and co-host two public lectures on urban lighting in collaboration with local and international partners (TIEA, UDDC, BMA, and Wismar University, Germany). The first one is by Dr. Elettra on Social Lighting workshop described above; the second is by Roger Narboni who is a world-renowned lighting designer based in Paris on the development of a lighting master plan. We expect to draw a number of landscape and lighting designers/engineers, lighting manufacturers, local authorities from Bangkok and other provinces as well as researchers from other universities.
